The winners are Lorenzo Rossotti and Luca Giacomelli for their joint C/UT Project, this year’s recipients of the Light Up Your Idea Design Award, organised by Riva 1920 with the support of SCM. The award ceremony, the culmination of a competition open to young architects and designers willing to try their hand in designing solid-wood furniture, was held Friday, 20 April, during the Milan Furniture Fair, where Maurizio Riva's company confirmed its leading position in the industry.
The eagerly sought-after prize – given this time, the competition’s fifth edition, for the best design of a wood dresser [kh1] – was awarded by Luigi De Vito, SCM Division Director. The historical partnership between SCM and Riva1920 is an expression of a dedicated focus – backed by the concrete support of SCM – on developing young designers as well as the entire furniture industry. SCM has been for years the preferred partner of the prestigious Italian company. Indeed, SCM has been providing Riva1920 with its advanced and exclusive woodworking machines, including three Routech Chronos HT interchangeable 5-axis machining centres, with which the Cantu-based company produces its iconic furniture products, acclaimed for their aesthetic shapes created by the finest world designers as well as for the materials used.
