Once again, SCM played a key role in the creation of the prestigious TTJ Awards trophies, the annual recognition of excellence in the UK timber industry.
The trophies were designed and crafted by Duncan Smith, SCM UK Showroom Manager, who every year amazes with new, unique creations that combine the beauty of solid wood with the most advanced woodworking technologies.
For the 2025 edition, Duncan worked with American black walnut and English sycamore, donated by English Woodlands Timber, producing trophies in the shape of the TTJ magazine itself. The contrast between the dark walnut and the pale sycamore highlighted the natural beauty of the materials, while also posing design and manufacturing challenges that were successfully overcome thanks to SCM’s state-of-the-art solutions.
The project involved three flagship SCM technologies:
“The combination of fine timber and high-tech SCM machinery allowed us to achieve an excellent result, both technically and aesthetically,” said Duncan Smith. “It is always a demanding but rewarding project, and we are proud that SCM technologies have once again contributed to the success of the TTJ Awards.”
With this new achievement, SCM reaffirms its commitment to supporting woodworking professionals with innovative, flexible and high-performance solutions that bring out the best in every material.
