On September 23 and 24, SCM Deutschland welcomed customers, dealers, partners and employees to its Nürtingen Technology Center to celebrate 40 years of direct presence in the German market. The Anniversary Open House followed the Sales & Dealer Meeting held on September 22, bringing together the commercial team and the dealer network to discuss market developments and the priorities for the next phase.
The anniversary provided an opportunity to look back at four decades of development in Germany, but above all to focus on the future in a market that remains strategically important for Scm Group.
“For us, these 40 years above all represent a new starting point,” said Giovanni Masino, Managing Director of SCM Deutschland and Regional Director Central Europe. “We know that the German market is going through a particularly challenging economic phase, but we also see opportunities, particularly in engineering projects, large-scale plants and digital solutions.”
The main drivers for the next phase
In 2026, in the DACH region, SCM has already secured several million euros in engineering orders, supporting larger and more complex production requirements. This development is being reinforced by the Group's growing expertise in automation and robotics. “The integration of Tecno Logica into the Group represents an important competitive factor, both in terms of products and expertise,” Masino explained. “Today, we can offer integrated automation and advanced robotics systems capable of supporting very high production capacities, even in highly variable and complex environments.”
At the same time, the development of these areas is not intended to replace the established stand-alone machine business. Rather, SCM Deutschland aims to grow its overall business and gain market share by combining its machinery offering with automation and integrated. solutions.
Another area being strengthened is software and digital services. The integration of Tecnest into Scm Group adds expertise in advanced software for production planning and supply chain management, complementing SCM's machinery and engineering offering.
“We want to move beyond the individual machine and support customers throughout the production process, through technologies, data, software and services that contribute concretely to production efficiency and control,” said Masino.
40 years built together with customers, dealers and employees
SCM's presence in Germany dates back even further than the establishment of the subsidiary. The Group was already active in the country through dealer partners in the 1960s and has exhibited at LIGNA since its first edition in 1975. The creation of SCM Deutschland in 1986 established a direct organisation dedicated to the German market.
The development of SCM Deutschland over these four decades has been built through the contribution of employees, dealers and partners, alongside the support of the Group's central management. The Nürtingen site has evolved with the organisation: since 2003 it has brought sales, showroom, spare parts and technical service together, while its Technology Center was expanded and modernised in 2023, increasing the exhibition area by around 60% to 1,200 square metres.
The Anniversary Open House brought this network together once again. Customers, dealers and partners had the opportunity to see SCM technologies in operation, discuss individual production requirements with product specialists and application engineers, and explore the Group's latest machinery, software and digital solutions.
For Gabriele Patti, Commercial Director at SCM, this local presence is part of a broader approach to the DACH region and the most strategic markets worldwide, where SCM is continuing to invest in its directly managed organisations.
“The DACH region is a good example of this approach. Germany has always been a strategic market for SCM and, at the same time, we are continuing to strengthen our presence in the other countries of the region.”
