“Close To the Customer” project

On June 20^th the Committee of the project ‘Close to the customer‘ (Local flexible manufacturing of green personalized furniture Close To the Customer in time, space and cost) gathered at our headquarter in Rimini for the Kick-off Meeting of the project leaded by Scm Group and co-financed by the EC within the 7th Framework Programme.

The CTC project, aimed at the wood-furniture manufacturing industry, develops methods and innovative enabling technologies towards manufacturing of green and personalized products closer to the customer in terms of features offered, place of fabrication, time to deliver, and cost. The ultimate implementation envisions a “Mini-factory” model that, according to the most strict sustainability limits and with specific single applications, can create a customized furniture production in unusual context such as shopping mall.

The implementation of the CTC can be achieved through the development of 5 pillars:

1) Development of a ‘Formalized Design Approach’ and related software technologies; 2) Development of standardized ‘Production System Model’ for Mini-factory; 3) Implementation of the local ‘Context Aware Factory’; 4)  Development of the CTC woodwork machining system, capable to empower the ‘Close to the Customer’ concept; 5) Implementation of the CTC Green Label.
