Diary at Ligna. SCM at the Hanover Trade Fair: 60 years of success

29 May 2019

Delegations of clients from all over Europe, but also from countries as far afield as China and Australia. The prestigious Hanover Trade Fair, the most important international event for the world of woodworking continues, with a great deal of interest being shown in the vast range of SCM models on display at the huge 4,000 m2 stand. Among the models on display are the integrated solutions for surface treatment, key players in the Surface Technology Guided Tour organised by the Trade Fair, that stopped off yesterday at the SCM stand in Hall 13 and at the Superfici one in Hall 16. Centre stage, however, on this second day, was occupied by the press event with more than fifty journalists from the most important industry magazines around the world. Giovanni Gemmani, Scm Group's President reminded us all that SCM has been taking part in Ligna for sixty years, since the edition in 1959: a long, highly satisfactory path filled with new challenges at every turn, which the Italian Group has managed to overcome successfully thanks to its range of ever developing, innovative products and services. Luigi De Vito, SCM Manager reminds us that the record figures achieved in 2018 are proof of this: the Group's turnover was 700 million, 70% of which from the wood industry alone. De Vito also reminded the press that 2019 opened with a significant growth rate, in numerous markets in Europe and other continents, thanks to SCM's ability to act as an all-round partner and consultant to its clients. Uwe Kosok, Manager of the German branch, underlined future priorities, starting with the strengthening of the sales and technical support network, while Gian Luca Fariselli, the Group's Communications Manager introduced the technologies leading the way at this edition. The press conference was followed by a "virtual tour" of the Smart&Human Factory, thanks to the demo arranged for the occasion, and a tour of the stand with Federico Ratti, Innovations Manager, to find out more about the different technologies available to all those companies involved in secondary wood processing.
