GAWO Gasser AG is a long-established Swiss family company based in Wolhusen, in the Entlebuch district, specializing in the production of wooden windows, doors and shutters. Since February 2025, the company has been using an SCM’s “superset nt” automatic throughfeed moulder. Anton Zimmerli, production manager of GAWO’s joinery, explains the reasons behind this investment: “We had been using a manual moulder for over 30 years, which needed to be replaced. We wanted to move to digital and in-line controlled processes to increase our productivity, and with SCM and this new machine we achieved exactly that: thanks to reduced set-up times, we have cut production times by 80%.”

The SCM electronic control with Maestro active 4-side software makes programming extremely simple and intuitive. All relevant information is displayed in real time, while detailed reports ensure full process transparency and reliability. This allows production to be monitored and optimized at any time. “This is a major advantage for us, as we handle variable orders and complex profiles,” adds Zimmerli.
One of the greatest efficiency gains comes from the SET-UP system, which enables profile changes in record time, up to 20 times faster than traditional solutions. Set-up times are drastically reduced, providing a significant productivity advantage, especially in the case of frequent machining changes.

Depending on different production requirements, the machine is available in 10 configurations, including two right vertical spindles, two top horizontal spindles and a universal spindle. “We digitally manage and control more than 80 different profiles in-line, making our processes extremely productive,” Zimmerli emphasizes.
Particular attention has been paid to ease of use. The machine structure has been designed to ensure that all operations can be carried out safely, comfortably and clearly. In addition, wide accessibility and a well-organized control panel facilitate daily work, even under typical multi-shift production conditions.
