30 Nov 2019Back in 1985, Victor Muscat had finished his apprenticeship and wanted to invest in his own stair manufacturing business. From his dream, Hi View Stairs was born. Since his retirement, Victor's sons Michael and James have continued in his footsteps and taken the company from strength to strength.
With a family values approach to business, Michael and James focus on providing quality and reliabilty in their designs. "Unlike the bigger mass production companies, we still visit sites personally to make sure we are giving our clients exactly what they need," said Michael. "We are proud of our company's heritage, and we want that to always be reflected in our work. It's part of the reason why we chose to work with SCM Australia. We've known and trusted them for over 20 years."
Designing and manufacturing solid timber and MDF staircases for both private and commercial clients, Hi View Stairs worked with SCM Group Australia to upgrade their factory with machining solutions that would help them focus on precision manufacturing, increased production and decreased waste to save both time and money.
"After witnessing the SCM Accord 25FX 5 Axis Machine producing stairs at a customer's factory, we decided very quickly that it was the right machine for us," said Michael. "It has easily replaced 4 machines in our production line. We also invested in a DMC SD 60 Wide Belt Sander, which replaced a 20 year old SCM sander - even though it still runs today."
Hi View's design and manufacturing process has been a streamlined affair with the addition of the SCM to their family. Their initial on-site measurements are submitted to third part software, which is then fed through to the SCM Accord 25FX 5 Axis for production.
"Our new SCM machines give us the opportunity to increase productivity beyond any level we've been able to achieve in the past," said Michael. "We know that we can rely on our machining to be precise every single time."
