SCM protagonist at LIGNA.Innovation Network

6 Oct 2021

LIGNA.Innovation Network, the digital event organised by Deutsche Messe, from the 27 to the 29 of September 2021, featured SCM's variety of latest technologies designed for the widest application fields in the woodworking industry: from the furniture and design sector to doors and windows, from timber construction to artisan joinery.

It was not possible to physically meet customers and business partners at the Hannover fair, but SCM wanted to confirm its presence in this new digital formula to continue networking with all the key players in the production chain, stay close to its business partners, even remotely, and illustrate the variety of new technologies it has to offer for 2021, designed for the widest application fields in the industry.

The excellent trend recorded by SCM and the entire chain in the first half of 2021, demonstrates a strong desire for technological innovation by woodworking companies, at an international level.

As stated by the Division Director Luigi De Vito and the Sales Director Pietro Gheller in live streaming, SCM recorded a turnover growth into double figures and record results even on orders, way beyond the budget forecast for the period. Also of significance is the increase in engineering projects for high automation plants or entire "turnkey" factories, proof of the excellent trend recorded by the entire woodworking industry globally.

LIGNA. Innovation Network was also an opportunity to announce the substantial and ongoing investments made by SCM: in technological innovation projects, with an overall allocation of 100 million Euro allocated for 2021-2024 with a strong focus on automation, digitalisation and eco-sustainability; in markets, with the opening of new branches in strategic markets like Turkey and India and the strengthening of the worldwide sales network for an ever spreading international presence; in industrial poles in Italy, with a 50% increase in the production area in Sinalunga (SI), a centre of excellence for timber construction technologies, and the realization of a new state-of-the-art, fully automated spare parts warehouse in Rimini.

The investments made in the DACH markets, particularly in Germany, were also highlighted. The Country Manager of SCM Deutschland, Uwe Kosok, stressed that one of the main actions was a 10% annual increase in the number of professionals involved in Service and Sales activities to accompany and support customers from pre to post-sales. These investments are accompanied, also in Germany, by a record number of orders and excellent commercial prospects for 2022.

Among the new SCM proposals protagonists of the event, great interest has emerged for the Smart&Human Factory, the smart, modular and highly reconfigurable production model that meets the new needs of the furniture industry and goes beyond traditional automation systems.

A lot of news also among the products and digital services. With the Digital Integrated Woodworking Process, SCM presented an integrated model of technologies, software and digital services capable of supporting customers at every stage of the furniture manufacturing process: preparation of the information, data and programs, planning and optimisation, production, monitoring and servicing.

More generally, all of the SCM latest presented during the digital event meet the new requirements of the woodworking sector in terms of digitalization, automation and eco-sustainability, whether it be integrated cells and lines or stand-alone technologies for the industry or carpentry.
