The importance of ventilated facades

5 Dec 2022

In construction, a ventilated facade is a complex architectural element that plays several important roles, the key ones being: to protect the building against atmospheric agents, especially water infiltration, improve thermal and acoustic insulation, and allow for new, modern expressive options thanks to the combination of different shapes, material, and colors.

Nowadays, the ventilated facade plays a key role in the construction of new buildings and the renovation of older buildings.

Thanks to the flexibility of this construction system, it is possible to combine the aesthetics of construction and its impact on the surrounding environment with the performance features requested by modern building techniques.

How is a ventilated facade created?

A metal support structure is secured to the rough masonry wall, as well as an insulation layer and a layer of coating created from flat sheets in stone (natural or artificial) or porcelain stoneware.

Cms’ bridge cutters allow companies to produce coatings for ventilated facades starting from natural or artificial stone sheets or porcelain stoneware, cutting them into elements and performing the necessary processing work so they can be applied to the metal support structure: blind holes and/or carvings in the edge.

Our machines combine top-level sturdiness, productivity, and usability. The sturdiness translates into piece and processing precision, essential for holding heavy suspended objects on the facades even on large buildings. The productivity results from automation provided by Cms that allow the cutter to cut, handle the piece, and autonomously perform work on the concealed facade. The usability derives from the complete and detailed software interfaces designed to make the execution of complex projects easier.
