Fiber Cement: The Material behind modern construction

Fiber cement is a highly durable composite material made of a mixture of cement and other fibrous materials, like wood fibers. Its unique formulation combines the strength and stability of cement with the flexibility and lightness of fibers.

Resistant to humidity and fire, fiber cement is widely used in the construction industry for both interior and exterior applications because it allows to finish the walls of a building very easily and extremely quickly. It offers excellent dimensional stability and can be cut, shaped and finished to achieve superior surface quality, increasing the value of the finished product.

SURFACE TECHNOLOGIES

From calibrating to sanding up to final decorations.
Fiber cement is not only a highly durable composite material, but also a surface with remarkable aesthetic potential.

To enhance its visual performance, SCM is committed to identifying the perfect finish, configuring the right machines to meet every design requirement, whether for interior or exterior applications. SCM’s approach to fiber cement is to help customers distinguish themselves on the market with solutions aimed at improving the surface finishing and increase the value of the finished product.

The process starts with heavy-duty calibration on one or both sides of the board — a key requirement for many fiber cement applications – integrated with advanced sanding operations capable of creating sophisticated surface effects. Final surface treatments, including curtain coating, roller coating and spraying, could then be completed through optimized drying systems that ensure reliable and flawless finishing cycles.
