SI FEST continues with the "Scm Group at work" exhibition

Sep 22, 2020

Exhibitions, photos in piazza, installations and blow-ups: genuine talking icons fill Savignano sul Rubicone with images, giving a voice and soul to the city and its people. This is the power of SI FEST, the famous, much-loved Photography Festival, now in its 29th edition, and this year with Scm Group by its side. The event was inaugurated on 18 September on the floodplain of the Rubicone River and continues for the next two weekends (26-27/09 and 3-4/10) with exhibits set up in the most evocative corners of the city that can be visited free of charge.

One of them is "SCM Group at work", at the Vecchia Pescheria; the result of an original reportage by one of the greatest masters of photography of the twentieth century, Gabriele Basilico. An exhibition that blends in perfectly with the topics of the archive and the importance of retracing the past which, once again this year, play a key role in the eyes of Denis Curti, the SI FEST artistic Director. Indeed, as Andrea Aureli, managing director of Scm Group explained last Sunday at the public meeting in piazza Borghesi dedicated to the exhibition, these shots taken by Basilico at the foundries and other company industrial spaces and processes at the end of the 1970s, come from Scm Group's archive. A genuine heritage where art and industry blend perfectly into one.

A vast, medium-sized colour reportage was put together for SI FEST in which Basilico describes the spaces and machinings, "attracted by the architectural geometries and volumes, as well as the human presence, as Giovanna Calvenzi, Basilico's wife and photo editor points out. "That documentary language that respects but does not interpret was already emerging from the substantiality of these images", typical of future campaigns that Basilico would go on to organise in different cities around the world.
