SCM and Si.mac Kosovo at the third edition of the Wood Industry Convention

Dec 17, 2018

SCM continues to expand its role as the world leading producer of woodworking machinery by entering the Balkan market, which is now heavily focused on the use of wood for increasing its economic growth, exports and employment. SCM took part in the third edition of the Wood Industry Convention, held on December 5 in Pristina, Kosovo, where over 300 industry professionals and experts, together with Kosovar state institutions and authorities, discussed and sought to determine the most effective strategies for this industry. During the event, Luca Bergantini, SCM Italy and Balkans Regional Manager, illustrated the results obtained over two years since the Si.mac Kosovo dealership was established, and together with Kreshnik Shehu of Si.mac met with Kosovar Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj. For SCM the event was also an opportunity to enter into new B2B agreements, such as the one signed with Visar Rexhepaj, owner of GreenHouse, a company specialising in the construction of wooden houses and roofs, which will purchase an Oikos12 machining centre. This is the first important SCM machine to be sold here for this type of industry, a new addition to the many others that SCM has provided in recent years to Balkan companies which participated in the convention. Representatives of these companies, who all expressed their utter satisfaction, were publicly thanked for their continued confidence by Bergantini himself during his speech, where he stressed the importance of long-term partnerships.

The convention served also as a stage for young talents to exhibit their new projects. Most noteworthy among them was Besar Krasniqi, a student at the local Faculty of Architecture who, during the ceremony organised by the Kosovo Wood Association, received a special SCM award from Bergantini for his project, which will be built and exhibited during the next Wood Industry Convention in 2019
